Back to the future!
The new front electrical sustainer (FES) system designed and developed by Luka and Matija Znidarsic is now a reality not just a dream.
Initially designed for the LAK 17A, it will be possible to install the (FES) system in all production LAK 17A and LAK 19 sailplanes including the new LAK 17B, and Luka and Matija are working closing with Sportine Aviacija to obtain EASA certification.
More information can be found on Luka & Matija's new website here.
LAK 17B & ASG 29 Flight Comparison!
We're now able to publish the flight traces of the flight comparison test performed in Poland earlier this year between a LAK 17BT and an ASG 29.

Kestutis Miliunas in the LAK 17BT
Comp. Number BL

Karol Staryszak in the ASG 29
Comp. Number PL
Both gliders had a wingloading of 57 kg/sq.m and the tests were done at speeds of 200 km/h, 150 km/h, and 120 km/h.
The flights took place in the evening in calm conditions with Kestutis launching first, using the turbo to reach the designated altitude. Karol launched second in the ASG 29 to join the LAK 17BT to start their first run together.
Although this flight comparison test is unofficial, it does show there is virtually no difference in performance, except of course, in the price!
